Chapter 3
Understanding Your Amazing Cells

Ah, cells - those little guys that are the building blocks for every living thing. They’re so small, invisible to the naked eye, but each one lives and breathes and has memory. Each keeps a record of all our life experiences - positive and negative.

Releasing the negative memory in these cells is the key to finding your own Inner Peace. Your beliefs (positive and negative) are the sum of all your experiences, and any negative unresolved energy is stored in your cellular memory. They regulate how you react to any situation today. Once you learn the techniques and tools, you’ll have free choice. You’ll be able to choose whether the negative experiences will stay rooted in your cells as negative vibrating energy or to set yourself free by letting go of it.

Releasing negative cellular memory and replacing the negative vibration with positive affirmations will take you to the most important step—the actualization of your goals. Actualizing involves putting your dreams into motion, taking a risk, and practicing a different response. This begins the process that leads you to peace of mind, spirit and body; bringing a comfort you may have never experienced. It will allow you to move forward as never before.

Your subconscious mind controls over 90% of your mental activity—yet its work is done without you even being aware of it. It works 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is the builder of your body, the home of your knowledge, emotions and habits.

Your cellular memory takes in virtually everything you experience. If you were to think of your cells as a computer, everything you’ve ever learned, everything that’s ever happened to you is stored in the computer’s memory banks—good and bad. When you consciously want to remember something, you send a command to your cells to retrieve and open those files. Sometimes the files don’t open, because of some glitch, and you think you’ve forgotten or gotten over the experience. But the file is still nearby.

When you’ve had a negative experience at some point in your life, it remains in your body in the form of a vibration at the cellular level. The mind forgets the experience to protect itself, but the body at its cellular level doesn’t. You may reason that the pain is in the past, that you’ve put it behind you. But the body doesn’t discriminate, nor does it rate hurt. Whether you were physically abused or simply stood up for a date, trauma at the body level is equally lethal.

Have you ever noticed how certain people or situations make you cringe? Have you ever met someone new whom you immediately disliked for no conscious reason, or got bad or negative energy vibrations from, and couldn’t understand why? This is your cellular memory reacting to an unresolved negative past experience. Your current situation is different, but the negative emotion is the same. Because it’s stored in the computer bank, it piggybacks on the new feeling of discomfort, which leads to a reaction or overreaction to the new person or situation.

What is Hidden Stress?

The body tells all. It sends all kinds of messages to you by way of symptoms such as stomach aches or chest pains. In the absence of any physical reason there is perhaps an emotional one. It’s called “hidden stress”.

Hidden stress is a hurtful negative experience that has not been dealt with on a conscious, subconscious or body level. When it reaches the body (or cellular) level, the body’s natural defenses kick in. It gives you a message by way of a physical symptom, in order to deal with the issue, so that the negative vibration can leave the body. Hopefully, this will restore the body to homeostasis or a balanced state. It’s deemed “hidden” because most people are not able to make a connection between stomach pain (or another physical ailment) at age thirty and the original emotional trauma that occurred, say, at age l0.

The trauma is trapped in your cellular memory. To make things even more complex, this original experience can continue to piggyback onto future events. Twenty years after that trauma, the incident has passed, but the residual negative energy remains. This energy will gather to itself more negative energy from unresolved issues in the future. It piggybacks them. These can snowball into more serious health problems and become much more difficult to treat.

This is the connection between stress and illness. When your cells are filled with too much negativity, your immune system is diminished, making you a vessel open to sickness. (Let’s face it, there are germs in the air all the time, yet not everyone responds to them.)

By releasing negative vibrating energy and reprogramming it with positive energy you’re giving your immune system a boost (as you do when you take vitamins).

You must delete these negative files at the cellular level so that the computer files in your cells no longer have them in storage. The balance will guide you to where your files are and give you the process to remove them and set up your own “anti-virus”, to prevent similar negative files from re-entering.

Armed with the knowledge of what your hidden negative stress pattern (your Karma) is, regular use of the guided meditation will be everything you need in order to manage your hidden stress.

The Science Behind Cellular Memory

Candace Pert, a Neuroscientist studying molecular and behavioral neuroscience, is one of the leading researchers studying the biochemistry of emotions.

Her discovery that the brain communicates at the cellular level using “messenger molecules” called peptides, shows that emotions are intimately connected with the entire physiology of the body, As a result, the chemical processes that mediate emotion are located on the surface of every single cell.

In her book Molecules of Emotions, the case is made through scientific research that emotional memory is stored throughout the body. Emotions, including anger, fear, sadness, joy, contentment, courage, pleasure, pain, awe and bliss, engender a constellation of bodily changes.

The discovery of neuropeptide receptors and opiates on the cells of the immune system, which act not solely in the brain, made the case that the immune system and nervous system were connected, and that our mental and emotional states directly impact the functioning of our immune systems, and, in turn, our ability to fight disease.

Pert envisions emotions traveling in both directions, from the brain into the body, and up the body into the brain, where they are integrated and expressed. Repressed emotions and memories are actually stored in receptors throughout the body. Therefore, she concludes that the body and brain are not separate but are one body-mind.

Researchers today agree that the brain and immune system do indeed “talk to one another” and that is precisely where Chakra Balancing enters the picture. Having the tools and the language to access, decode and release these negative cellular memories, allows you to communicate different messages to the cells, resulting in the immune system getting a boost. Following the guided meditation script and CD, you will gain the skills to remove the past from your cells, in order to heal your present condition of health; and learn how to offset future negativity from entering your body-mind system.

Candice Pert along with many other scientists is continuing to research and write on the connections of emotions to the immune system.

Elizabeth’s Story: Unlocking Hidden Stress

Thirty-eight year old Elizabeth had a host of physical complaints. She was overweight, had yeast infections, cysts on her ovaries, knee problems and allergies. Her main complaint was her weight. She felt being overweight kept her from attracting men, or getting a better job in her field even though she was well qualified. She had tried every diet on the market, and would gain back as much, if not more, weight than she lost.

Elizabeth had read an article explaining how some people are purposely overweight and unconsciously sabotage themselves. Their heaviness acts as a defense to protect themselves from childhood trauma or abuse. This theory didn’t seem applicable to Elizabeth’s own childhood but she wondered if she was sabotaging herself and using the weight to protect herself against an unremembered experience. Tired of blaming other people and issues for her problems, Elizabeth came to The Balancing Centre to look inside herself for hidden answers. It was the first time she had tried to find an answer. And, more importantly, it was her first step to seeking the truth.

When Elizabeth was a child, her mother would ply her with meals and treats, particularly when Elizabeth was upset. At the same time, she’d berate Elizabeth about her obesity. Elizabeth’s friends also put her down in their own way. For example, when skipping rope, they would only let Elizabeth be a rope turner. The girls pointed out that Elizabeth couldn’t possibly keep up with them. They did, however, praise her for being the best rope turner. Eventually, she stopped asking if she could have a turn at skipping.

As an adult, Elizabeth got tired of the same, repeating scenarios. Eventually, she stopped dating or seeking out better jobs.

A series of Chakra Balances performed on Elizabeth released the residual negative energy in her cells. She could recall some of the hurtful experiences as if they had happened yesterday; while other incidents she dismissed as incidental, not realizing that they had a profound impact on her adult life. Elizabeth discovered her hidden need to gravitate to people and situations that would perpetuate her lack of confidence and her expectation of failure. She saw how each person and experience was piggybacked on previous experiences. Her cells were so backed up with blockages and messages she hadn’t been able to hear or see that her physical symptoms were the manifestation of her body’s disharmony.

Elizabeth had come seeking help simply for her weight and lack of self-confidence. What she came to realize was that she unconsciously sought out people to undermine her confidence and set herself up for failure. With a new awareness of her Karma, and armed with her balancing tools, she has reprogrammed her cellular map.

Physically, Elizabeth is feeling better. She no longer uses food to sabotage herself, the excess weight has come off, and she is comfortable with her current size. She now feels that she didn’t come into this life to be pencil thin, nor was her body size the root cause of her stress. However, she is free to offset her karma and attract situations and people who accept her for herself. Elizabeth’s challenge was to accept herself as a self-confident woman, capable of coping with life. She may still meet people who reject her or who don’t hire her; but what has changed is how she reacts to those people. She will never resign herself to what others tell her she can or cannot do or become.

I heard from Elizabeth about a year after she had her Chakra Balances. She had opened her own typing service and employed 10 people. She is now open to attracting an appropriate mate, one who can see her as she sees herself.

Looking inside for truth is not as scary as not looking.

The truth will free you from sabotaging yourself and will allow life’s process to unfold and your mind to be free.

Emily’s Story

Emily was thirty-eight, had two children and was married to a very successful entrepreneur. By all accounts, she had the life of a princess. However, her husband was away much of the time, relying on Emily to look after the household and the children. She was in good health, but she felt detached and, for no apparent reason, experienced increasing free-floating anger and anxiety. To help her improve her concentration and overall well-being Emily was referred to the Balancing Center by a friend.

It had never occurred to Emily that she had stress (hidden or otherwise). Essentially, she felt blessed, with happy, healthy children and parents. Emily’s presumption that material wealth led to happiness and contentment kept her from the truth. She agreed to investigate the possibility that her lack of concentration was a front for unresolved issues from her past and present situations.

The Chakra Balances helped reveal the negative vibrating energy of Emily’s cellular map. She became aware of needs she could never before have admitted she had. She had been firmly rooted in her hidden negative stressor (her karmic pattern) of gravitating to specific relationships, exemplified by a spouse who made her feel unloved, and physically and emotionally abandoned. For Emily, the biggest challenge was to admit that she had needs that couldn’t be satisfied with material goods. The Chakra Balance helped her to regain control and harness her power and most importantly to change her preprogrammed script and responses.

Emily soon realized that the only way her marriage was going to work was if they rewrote their marriage script. Unfortunately, her husband wasn’t interested in change and believed Emily was behaving like a spoiled child. When he left her, Emily didn’t feel abandoned or deserted. She realized she’d been emotionally abandoned from the onset of her marriage. Emily’s concentration has returned and along with raising her two children, she has returned to school to begin a career in social service.

Both Elizabeth’s and Emily’s stories illustrate the power of how hidden stress can affect us when our conscious mind fails us by not making the connection.

The tools you have been given in both the CD and this guidebook will do just that. When you connect your conscious mind to your cellular map, you’ll be able to release negativity and arm your conscious mind with the truth. You will then be in a position to actualize your goals and dreams.

Remember, repeatedly saying positive affirmations is not enough for your subconscious or cellular map to accept a change, if the cells are already filled with negative memory blocking your path. You must first clear that blockage and then reprogram the cellular memory banks in order to see the truth and experience change.
